White Privilege

With recent events in Ferguson, MO and Taylor Swift’s newest video that features some rather colorful cultural appropriation, racism has reared its ugly head through several of my white friends. Trying to reason and explain to these people what racism is (rather than the wrong dictionary definition that people spew to defend their behavior) is a rather headache, hair pulling inducing experience. No matter what I say, it’s like talking to a brick wall.

But the fact of the matter is that white privilege and white supremacy very much and quite obviously exist, particularly in my life. Rather than try to write what has already been written, I’m yet again going to post some resources that I’ve found to be particularly helpful in understanding this topic.
