About
About Contagious Queer
Contagious Queer is an independent, 18+ queer culture magazine. It is also a commercial publication. This page explains both halves of that sentence — including the part most sites leave out.
What changed
This domain had an earlier life. Before 2026 it was a different, independently-run blog with its own writers and its own voice. That project is over, and we are not those people. We acquired the domain and relaunched it as a new publication.
We want to be unambiguous about that, because it matters:
- Everything published here now is newly written by our editorial desk. We did not copy, re-host or pass off the previous owners' work as our own — buying a domain doesn't transfer anyone's copyright, and it certainly doesn't transfer their authorship.
- Where an old web address still points here, we've written a fresh, current article on the same subject so that a ten-year-old link doesn't dead-end. That's a courtesy to readers following old references — not a claim to be the original site.
- We don't dress this commercial publication up as something it isn't. The strip at the top of every page says what we are. So does the footer. So does this page.
What we're for
We cover queer life broadly and without apology: culture and history, relationships and dating, trans lives, bodies and body image, mental health and survival, digital safety, the spaces where we gather, and — because we're a grown-up publication for grown-ups — consensual adult life, including live creator platforms.
We try to be useful to queer, trans, bi, gay, lesbian, non-binary and questioning readers, and to the people who love and support them. We treat trans people as people, never as a fetish category or a debate topic.
How we pay for it
Independent media costs money. We fund this site mainly through external 18+ links: ErotikLive men/trans and ErotikMaps venue discovery. If you sign up or subscribe there, we may earn a commission. The HTML uses rel="sponsored nofollow noopener"; the pages themselves do not need to keep shouting about it.
Two things we promise about money:
- Editorial is not for sale. A partner paying us does not buy a good write-up. We describe adult platforms plainly, including the catches.
- We never fake demand. No invented "online now" counters, no fake reviews, no made-up community statistics to manufacture urgency.
The disclosure has the dry legal version.
Who writes this
We publish under a small set of openly-disclosed editorial pen names and a shared desk byline. We use pen names because writing candidly about queer life can carry real-world risk — but we don't invent fake biographies or credentials to sit behind them. You can see the bylines on our authors page. Where a piece touches health or crisis topics and hasn't been reviewed by a relevant professional, we say so and keep the tone non-clinical.
